MLO 5
MLO 5 Cultural Internalization and Language Immersion Students demonstrate that they have actively immersed themselves in authentic Hispanic cultural and linguistic environments and have internalized the language and cultural experience, from which they have developed personal understanding and new perspectives of Hispanic communities.
Note: Students develop intercultural communication skills and strategies, and learn to adapt and respond in effective ways. This MLO may be fulfilled by a study abroad experience or equivalent. Courses taken in a study abroad program may count toward another MLO. Students who choose Pathway 2 will be working on a community project to fulfill this requirement.
List of Courses: SBS 485S
This MLO required either a project in a Spanish speaking community or going abroad. I chose to go abroad as a part of the Social and Behavioral Science 485S course. This class had us go to Spain for a month while we did a research project. We engaged in casual conversation with the locals and were also partnered up with a student from the Universidad de León. We spent time with her in casual settings, conversing in Spanish. I hope to go back to Spain after I get my degree and possibly teach. I loved learning about the culture and would love the opportunity to improve my interpersonal skills.
